Google’s patent software included a number of sketches of a possible foldable system.
Samsung’s Galaxy Fold made a splash at Unpacked in February. Since then, extra foldable telephones have been unveiled as firms seize on the newest telephone pattern.
Google could also be seeking to toss its hat within the foldable ring, based on a patent software found by Patently Mobile on Tuesday. While a patent software does not imply something is about in stone, it does imply Google is at the least fascinated with a foldable system.
The patent, printed in December, describes the system like so: “[a] foldable display of a computing device includes a back stiffening layer, a transparent frontplate layer, a transparent cover window layer, and an OLED display layer disposed between the back stiffening layer and the transparent frontplate layer.”
Several sketches included within the patent present a tool that appears to fold like a ebook or pockets. Another sketch exhibits the system folded in a “Z” form.
Google did not instantly reply to a request for remark.
